ABOUT US >FINANCING

COC receives funding from the following sources:

  • Social Security Entitlements. Individuals receiving residential support contribute a large portion of their Social Security entitlements to their overall cost of care. Some receive additional income from employment.
  • Food Stamps. Many people are eligable for food stamps which almost entirely cover their food costs. Cleaning products, paper products, and general household purchases are funded through the home budget.
  • Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency. This agency provides funds to support residential services beyond that provided by a person’s Social Security.
  • Donors and fundraising. Our donors are essential to the success of COC. They include friends, family, business associates and community organizations. We are also the recipient of grants from organizations, such as the Plymouth Community United Way, Livonia Community Foundation, and UPS. COC is a 501 (c) 3 corporation, so donation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. This makes it possible for us to better focus on the mission of COC in helping people live fulfilled lives.
