HOW YOU CAN HELP?
Become a Donor
Make a donation in memory of a loved one, in honor of a special occasion or as a direct contribution. Donations can be made through bequests or estate-planned giving options or as a matching gift through your employer.
Shop at Busch’s, Kroger, and Hiller’s
Each year we raise more than $2,000 as a result of residents, families and friends of COC who shop at Busch’s, Kroger and Hiller’s and use their Community Rewards Program. The set-up and procedures vary slightly but common to all is a regular donation to COC based on a portion of the purchases.
Busch’s
Obtain the initial card from COC. After shopping, take the card to the cashier, money is loaded on the card using cash, credit card, debit card or check. The customer then uses the Scrip card to pay for their purchases. COC will earn 5% on purchases paid by cash, check, or debit card and 3% on purchases paid by credit card.
Hiller’s
Obtain the initial card from COC. After shopping, take the card to the cashier, money is loaded on the card using cash, credit card, debit, or check. The customer then uses the Scrip card to pay for their purchases. COC will earn 5% on purchases paid by cash, check, or credit card.
Kroger
Each year Kroger shoppers must re-enroll in the Kroger Community Rewards Program. In 2011 new enrollment was effective in May.
To register for the program online:
- Find your Kroger Plus card.
If you don't have one, they are available at the Customer Service desk at any Kroger.
- Using your web browser, go to www.krogercommunityrewards.com
- Click “Michigan”
- Click “Enroll.”
You must have a valid online account at Kroger.com and must enroll online to
participate. Organization members can no longer scan their group’s barcode at the checkout or service desk.
You cannot register at the service desk inside Kroger. If you do not have access to a computer to register, call the COC
(734) 422-1020 and we will be happy to facilitate your enrollment or re-enrollment.
Make a Friend
Befriend a person living in a COC home who has limited family involvement and is in need of a friend. Only one or two hours a month (more preferred!) are needed to spend time with someone.
Lend a Hand
Volunteer time at COC homes to paint, perform household maintenance and repairs, chaperone activities or provide transportation.
